Snow Day

After a wacky February with hardly any snow (what little there was got around to melting fast here!) March came in with a whallop!

We did a  little of this (thanks Artful Parent!) with some posterboard (what we had on hand and worked quite well!). So funny, I thought they would make landscapes and portraits or the like in each frame... in the end (as so often happens) they took the idea and made it their own by taking a different spin on it ...mostly embellished names and notes to their student teachers -and then this funniness...

Keeping these guys busy and fed is just about a constant. I figured I would combine the 2 and make some pretzels (recipe can be found in Kohl's Mudworks and Cooking Art). Easy peasy and quick. Perfect! (pretzels for lunch is okay, right?  there was peanut butter involved later...)

Books are good too, of course. From Goldilocks to Greek Myths, we mix and mingle all kinds of interests. I find even the smaller ones who don't follow what I am saying just enjoy the presence in the room. The quietness of it...listening to a voice reading aloud.

Don't get me wrong, it was not all butterflies and roses all day. We had our share of squabbles (mildly put) and tensions. I tend to think those are the normal push and pull of family life and the orneriness that can come out of idleness...well, too much of it at least. Note to self - keep 'em busy!... (it tires 'em out)
